Nora Jones Meets Pink.

Invicta Records is proud to announce the exciting signing of Denver singer-songwriter Girl Named Kyle to its impressive roster of up and coming artists.  Girl Named Kyle--otherwise known by her street name of Kyle Simmons--is a 19 year old very talented singer and acoustic guitar player that boasts her own unique sound--think Nora Jones meets Pink.  In 1998 Kyle found the realism of her father's guitar, and soon began creating a sense of safety and relation with her unique writing ability and her slow yet satisfying riffs.  In 2005 brought the name that fills the spaces, Girl Named Kyle.  Nothing less, nothing more.  Girl Named Kyle's depth and breadth attracts audiences from high school age through classic rock adults.

Girl Named Kyle's music is sometimes soft, sometimes loud, but never weak. It is a collaboration of rock, folk and indie influences, all topped off with mesmerizing vocals. Electric and acoustic guitars and an upright piano intertwine in creative and emotional ways. Rock drums and bass bring these instruments together to form an addictive sound. This makes for an exciting unpredictable, and engaging performance that won the accolade "Best New Band in Denver" (Herman's Hideaway, 2008). Girl Named Kyle has opened for national acts Pat McGee and Steven Kellogg & the Sixers and has headlined shows at the Bluebird and Gothic theaters in Denver, Colorado.

Invicta warmly welcomes Girl Named Kyle to the record company. Expect her debut CD to be released in April 2008.

Rockhill, Kansas City, Missouri USA

Electric Americana Classic Roots Rock at its very best.

Gathered together from small towns and big cities on both sides of the Atlantic, the members of Rockhill have somehow managed to continue to enjoy making music together for over 15 years.  With 3 singer/songwriters and a drummer with a knack for arrangement, the creative energy and sparks of collaboration have been flying since Day One.  The careers of Rockhill’s members span two decades with highlights such as MTV videos, CashBox top 40 hits, international tours, major label record deals, and performances with other major recording artists.

Rockhill plays foot-stomping fist-shaking rock 'n roll, to simple, soulful acoustic country that tugs at the heart strings.  These boys may carry a few wrinkles, but every time-etched line comes through on these songs as proof of one who's been there, someone who has walked that long dark highway, and is still here to sing about it.  Rockhill's unique blend of Americana Roots Rock is something you don't want to miss.

Origins of Rockhill's Name

The name “Rockhill” came about because the band wanted a name that sounded solid with a Kansas City/regional feel.  William Rockhill Nelson, the founder of the Kansas City Star newspaper, was one of Kansas City’s founding fathers.  Among American publishers he was a pioneering advocate of focusing investigative reporting on local municipal corruption instead of merely printing the exposés of nationally famed muckrakers.  William Rockhill Nelson built the Kansas City Star into one of the nation's most successful newspapers.  His influence touched nearly every part of life in Kansas City, from politics to public opinion to even the development of streets and neighborhoods.  The band rehearsed for many years at Doug Osburn’s house 1 block west of Rockhill Road in Kansas City.  The band also felt it was a plus to have the word “rock” in the name of a rock ‘n roll band, and as Gary Paredes quips, “we fancy ourselves at the top of the heap of rock ‘n roll bands.”
